Sectral (Acebutolol HCl) is a specific beta-adrenoreceptor blocker that is hydrophilic with mild intrinsic sympathomimetic properties used to treat patients suffering from hypertension and arrhythmias in the ventricular region.

Sectral s sold in capsules to be administered orally and are available in two strengths, which comprise 200 mg or 400 mg of the acebutolol, the salt of the hydrochloride. The inactive ingredients included include D&C Red 28 D&C Yellow 10 FD&C Blue 1 FD&C Red 40 maize starch, gelatin, povidone, stearic acid, and titanium dioxide.

 Sectral dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension:

Initial dosage: 400 mg orally daily in 1 to 2 equal doses
Dosage for maintenance: 400- 800 mg taken orally daily
