Vasodilatory shock

[septic shock, adjunct tx]
Dose: 0.01-0.04 units/min IV; Start: 0.03 units/min IV; Info: use w/ norepinephrine; doses >0.05 units/min IV reserved for salvage tx; taper dose gradually to D/C
[postcardiotomy shock]
Dose: 0.03-0.1 units/min IV; Start: 0.03 units/min IV, may incr. by 0.005 units/min IV q10-15min; Max: 0.1 units/min; Info: may taper dose by 0.005 units/min IV q1h if target BP maintained x8h w/o catecholamines
