 Recommended Adult Dosing

Dosage forms:  INJ

Corticosteroid-responsive conditions

[20-240 mg/day IM/IV divided bid-qid]
Alt: 100-500 mg IM/IV q2-6h; Info: dose, frequency varies by condition; taper dose gradually to D/C if high-dose or long-term use

Adrenal insufficiency, acute

[100 mg IV q6-8h x24-48h]
Alt: start 100 mg IV x1, then 240 mg/day IV infusion x24-48h

Status asthmaticus

[300-400 mg/day IV divided q6h]

*Septic shock, adjunct tx

[200-300 mg/day IV divided q6-8h x5-10 days, then taper dose over 5-7 days to D/C]
Max: 300 mg/day; Alt: start 100 mg IV x1, then 240 mg/day IV infusion x5-10 days, then taper dose over 5-7 days to D/C
